Report on the last seminar.

The Federal Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Abuja FCT in collaboration with the Obafemi Awolowo University organized the first in a series of training courses on 'FishBase and Biodiversity Management'. Professor R. O. Makanjuola, the Vice Chancellor and Professor Remi Adeyemo, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture performed the opening ceremony between 10.00 am. And 12.00 noon at the Obafemi Awolowo University Conference Centre Library, Ile-Ife on Friday 28th September 2001.

The actual training on 'FishBase and Biodiversity Management' was held at the Faculty of Agriculture Electronic Library. Fisheries Scientists (officials of the Federal and States' Department of Fisheries as well as Research Institutes) participated in the training course. Participatory approach methodology was used for the training programme. This methodology enabled the participants to make good contributions during the discussions of the course content, timetable as well as the subject matter. Facilitation of the training programme was by a Team of experts in the Faculty of Agriculture and INTECU of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
